So, how has our first season been?

It’s been a wonderful, productive start! We’ve supplied the shop with an abundance of crisp radishes, vibrant Swiss chard, fresh salad leaves, tender courgettes, colourful beans, buttery potatoes, juicy tomatoes, earthy beetroot, sweetcorn, and a variety of beautifully patterned squashes – not to mention some gorgeous hand-picked bouquets of flowers. 🌸

And we haven’t stopped there! We’ve already planted potatoes and onions ready for an early spring harvest.

Would you like to join us?

From Spring 2026, we’ll be running a weekly half-day session where members of the community can come along and get involved. We welcome everyone – whether your fingers are a deep shade of green, or you haven’t grown anything since that cress experiment back in primary school!

All we ask for is your enthusiasm and a little of your time.

If you’d like to be part of our growing community, why not email us and join our 2026 volunteer mailing list? There’s no obligation to come regularly – just join in whenever it suits you.

Want to volunteer?

Our volunteers won Outstanding Team from Bucks Community Board.  They really are a great bunch!  If you would like to join us, to get digging, pruning or weeding, or perhaps you’d like to help us build raised beds and trugs, just email prestwoodcommunityfridge.co.uk

We told you that Prestwood Community Fridge is about more than food – it’s about community, sustainability, and care for both people and planet…

When it comes to community and sustainability, there are so many opportunities to make a difference – and so much impact that can be created!

Starting a community allotment was a very natural next step for us. It fits our mission perfectly:

  • Supplying the Community Fridge with healthy, low-carbon-footprint food

  • Providing local, seasonal produce directly to the community

  • Getting us outdoors, active, and connected

  • Practicing great teamwork

  • Supporting nature and biodiversity

  • Playing our part in a responsible, effective local food system

With the support of Great Missenden Parish Council and a stalwart team from the Community Fridge, in April 2025 we took on two allotments at Greenlands Lane in Prestwood.

This year has been our proof of concept – and what a year it’s been! We’ve cleared beds, planted fruit trees, given soft fruit bushes some TLC, and started growing. All completely pesticide and weedkiller-free.

We’ve loved watching nature flourish on the allotment just as much as we’ve enjoyed seeing our produce grow. 🌱
